Great, a PR outfit set up to shift environmental policy / consciousness to fiscal policy / consciousness.

You know what I don’t want to hear about from former Bush PR people? How to balance budgets and cut spending.

What should be remembered when we talk about the American fiscal situation is that conservatives have been steering the boat since Reagan with the exception of eight years during which there was a surplus.

You want to improve America’s fiscal health? Raise taxes to Reagan/Clinton levels, cut military, and expand medicare buy in to everyone instead of just the most infirm and diseased demographics of society.

And maybe put a few billion of that money, removed from the military, into renewable public utilities so that the economy isn’t held hostage by resource speculators hoarding dwindling fossil fuel reserves.

The problem isn’t that the government is spending too much money, it’s that it’s spending too much money on stupid things while ignoring critically important, and likely profitable, ones.

And it’s cutting its revenue while it does this. Extrapolate stupid spending and stupid revenue cuts into the future and you have DOOM.

But the solution isn’t no government spending, since who is going to pay taxes for a government that provides nothing in return, the solution is smart spending plus sustainable revenue.

    Other countries manage this
