Kilmeade: The Reason We Get Dementia is We Keep Marrying Other Species and Ethnics

Fox and Friends remains for me one of the most surreal programs on television. It’s sort of like, for me, some sort of dystopian future combining elements of V for Vendetta with Idiocracy. Some studio exec decided to find a bunch of dim-witted culture warriors and give them a chatty and perky unscripted morning show. The result?

Well, for instance, reporting on a Swedish and Finnish study finding that couples who stay married have less of a risk of Alzheimers, Brian Kilmeade decides to just “throw this out there”.

  2. What’s sort of ironic is that the actual findings of the study—that committed marriage, long-lasting familial bonds, and strong interaction with the community are keys to a long, happy, and healthy life—is a perfectly serviceable family values social conservative point.

    Instead, Kilmeade decides to bypass that entirely and use the study as evidence (despite the fact that, as far as I’m aware, the study had nothing to do with who the subjects were married to) that we shouldn’t be marrying across species (?) and ethnicities. It’s not just frightening to think of a guy who has that rattling around in his brain, but also a really bizarre non-sequitor.

  3. I thought he was saying that, if you’re married to an Italian or an Irish person or a dog, and you want to get divorced, go ahead. It won’t make you any dumber. Unless you, also, are Italian or an Irish person or a dog.

  4. I find it interesting how people throughout the ages use different things as organizing principles. Societies used to form exclusionary based on theology and ethnicity, and now we seem to group around political ideology and economic class.

    I guess it’s progress of a sort that we no longer seriously care about your beliefs in sky kings or your family’s pedigree….

    Except on fox news. Dumb ass troglodytes the lot.
