Primers on the Iranian Election

Of course the Iranian election is today. It’s a fascinating story that I’ve been watching closely, but since I can’t claim any particular knowledge or insight into it, haven’t blogged about it. Nevertheless, three quickie links to pass on.

The BBC has a very helpful page up which outlines the structure of the Iranian government and where the President falls into that.

The second is a map of the Farsi-speaking blogosphere, which has been alight with election coverage. A good place to start if you want a portal into at-the-source coverage.

Finally, as always, Juan Cole is all over it.

  1. The only votes that count are those of the Islamic clerics that actually rule Iran. The outcome of this Muppet audition has always been inevitable.
