And then there were ten
The death of Sydney Maurice Lucas means there are now four surviving British World War I veterans and just ten* in the entire world. Of those ten only two served in combat in the trenches. Think about that for a minute. Not only is an era coming to a close, but there are just ten people alive out of the numerous millions who survived WWI. Death comes for us all.
* That number jumps to eleven when you add Hitler, still hiding in Argentina.
