Aaaargh! The guy couldn’t win one state, after all his hype, and now he’s planning for 2012. I’m beginning to think McCain was right when he said that the only cure for presidential ambition was embalming fluid.
People like Giuliani, however much one might dislike him, aren’t the reason that the Republicans are in trouble. Indeed, the reason that Giuliani so bombed is because he’s not popular with the sorts of Republicans that are somewhat repulsive to much of the rest of America (the socons). Giuliani and Schwarzenegger, as successful blue state Republicans, are much more agreeable to Independents and Moderates than most of the Republican party.
Furthermore, I would say that the reason to fear Giuliani and his ilk is that if you’re a conservative and want the GOP to be a conservative party, the populism of Giuliani is somewhat similar to that of David Cameron, the UK Tory leader, spearheading a move away from conservatism.

I just threw up in my mouth a little. No, make that a lot. I just briefly imagined a Giuliani / Palin ticket, I need to lay down.
Isn’t the republican party supposed to be learning a lesson here or something?

Yeah, except for that whole forever war, security state, and ultra unitary executive thing, sure he is real moderate.
