The Reason Scorecard

The preeminent libertarian magazine right now polls its members as to who they’ll be voting for…and the results are fascinating.

Sort of a little hard to parse some of the answer, but by my reckoning, the results are:

Barack Obama: 15
Bob Barr: 12
Not Going to Vote: 6
John McCain: 4

  1. More than anything else, I am suprised at how cheaply they sold themselves.

It’s easy for any libertarian to be angry at the incumbent party. But if you don’t expect at least SOME libertarianism from the alternative, then you’ll find yourself as a permanent vote in opposition, ping-ponging between the two major parties, driven by hate rather than by principle.

  2. As far as expecting some libertarianism—perhaps the difference is some are looking at the candidates’ respective libertarianism individually, and some are looking at the differential between the two contenders and the likely Americas under both.

My guess would be reasonable people can disagree on both; less so the former, but then you and I (and, apparently, them) clearly have very different ideas on the latter.
