NATO Has Jumped the Shark
Croatia and Albania are going to join NATO. So now an attack on Albania will be an act of war against the United States. Can someone explain to me how this is in our national interest? I have three sons myself, and I can’t spare any of them to die defending one pissant Balkan dump against another pissant Balkan dump. Call me a red, but NATO’s clearly outlived its purpose and needs to go the way of SEATO and CENTO.
I’m reminded of fellow-Cornerite John Derbyshire’s last line in his endorsement of Ron Paul.
And why do we have 75,000 soldiers in Germany?
Krikorian is picking a particularly perverse interpretation, there.
Mind you, in my opinion* he repeatedly does the same thing with regards to his signature issue, immigration restriction.
*I don’t think that this opinion is going to surprise anyone that has read what I think about immigration restrictionism.
