Tin Ear Watch

Based on this post. Jack’s point in it is well-taken; that you could just call it straight racism. Which it true after a fashion. But I like to give them the benefit of the doubt and think it’s not so much that some right wing (and left wing) voices attacking Obama and using race outright hate black people—though that will certainly be true too. But mostly that they aren’t used to thinking of black people as, you know, people people. That “Bill Clinton in South Carolina explaining why it wasn’t a big deal to lose there to Obama because Jesse Jackson won it twice” tin ear.

Special points to instances where the moniker “they” is used, unexamined and ominous-like.

So, in our inaugural edition, who better to pop the cherry than…Geraldo.

On “Fox and Friends” last week, the mustachioed infotainer gave his take on Barack Obama’s borrowing of his campaign chairman’s words: “When I saw that they were the same words that Deval Patrick, the black guy who won as Massachusetts mayor — as Massachusetts governor — had used, I said to myself, it seems so premeditated. It’s almost as if they went to a camp where these black geniuses got together and figured out how to beat the political system. . . . What’s the other formula that they’re going to use?”

  1. oh, Geraldo. He needs to go back to giving away tactical battlefield info and opening empty tombs with great media aplomb.

There is no explanation for his fame, and no limit to his idiocy.

He doesn’t have the common sense god gives puppies.
