Cartoon characters vs. cartoons

For those who, like me, were left in despair by the martyrdom of Farfour the Islamist Mouse at the hands of the agents of the International Zionist Conspiracy…fear not! Assud the Islamibunny is here to pick up the green banner, and to strike terror into those who would draw cartoon images of the prophet Mohammed (peace be unto him).

  1. I would submit that Allah has been mighty unwilling thus far.

  2. The best thing to do now is pull back on everyone civil liberties, suspend thousand year old traditions of law, create “human rights commissions” to approve what can be said in the media, build up the military and perhaps invade another country if an act is actually committed.

That would be much better than stopping immigration from countries that have large numbers of people that practice this religion or have other traditions that are difficult to integrate, wouldn’t it?

  3. Why can’t we do both? Maybe build a deathstar or something too? Dream big, daveg, dream big I say!

  4. I must agree with daveg that immigration should be restricted among six-foot anthropomorphic mice and rabbits of the Islamicist variety. I can’t think of any economic need that would be filled by the admission of more than, say, twenty of those a year.

At worst, the screening process would liven up the application questionaire. “Are you now, or have you ever been, a direct ripoff of a Disney or Warner Brothers character?”

  5. I dunno, Rojas, if we do that the Department of Homeland Security is going have to spend billions developing a way to identify them at the border.

  6. MEMRI has been translating Palestinian text books for years; trying to get the US to make a priority of hte peace process education. Math problems that say things like “If you kill one Israeli, and then kill two more, how many Israelis have you killed.” I’m not sure if that’s exactly how it went, but you get the picture. http://www.memri.org/

They translate a lot of stuff. Focus was mostly on highlighting anti-semitism, but since 9-11 they’ve expanded more to terrorism, anti-Westernism in general . Trying to get understanding of the positions and media in the Muslim world. I presume there is a lot more interest in their work now than their was in 1999…

It’s a seriously important issue. But even before that, person to person exchanges are the best way to overcome this sort of indoctrination. Having Israelis and Palestinians meet one another and realize they are human is essential to any peace process. To get any peace process to take, the population has to support it. Ending knee jerk bigotry and giving people a chance to discuss their assumptions about eachother is important.

I’ll step off of my obvious box now.

  7. I am not entirely certain that putting forth cartoon characters to train kids in hatred of foreigners is the best way to foster person-to-person exchanges.

  8. heh. I meant to make the point that person to person exchanges might help to overcome indoctrination/propaganda. It would be great to get rid of the indoctrination/propaganda altogether; in the meantime, person to person exchanges might help get people to understand that suhc broadcasts are idiotic.

  9. Person-to-person exchanges would indeed be eminently desirable. I hope they are expanded. I suspect that if Joseph Nye ends up in the State Department–a very real possibility in an Obama administration–we may get a lot more of that sort of thing.

  10. I am one that believes that bomb-to-person exchanges when conducted properly can have a long-lasting and positive effect. I am sentimental that way.

    Funny.

But is it funny when we have the president claiming he NEEDS a wire tapping bill to intercept phone calls with at least one party located in our country?

I don’t wan to have to get on the phone three times a week to call my congressman/senator telling them I don’t what him to approve warrantless searching.

But somehow I am forced to do this.

A lot of people where involved with the production of that TV show – writers, actors, investors. It is not just a one-off phenom.

Israel is constantly trying to drive similar folks out of their country and preserve their Jewish majority. They have built a wall as well.

Fail to see why we should not learn from them when possible.

  12. If we’re going to deport people for being involved in the production of TV shows, I recommend that we start with the producers of “Hannah Montana”.

  13. Rojas,

We must work to pass laws to allow the deportation of American citizens who are filling our children’s minds with drivel.

I’d say we should put them in jail, but with one percent of the US population already in prison, I’m not sure that this would be workable.
