Good News

We’re mostly a political blog, but one of the first links we had on our blogroll was to Roger Ebert’s SunTimes site. I’m infamous for my Ebert infatuation. Sometimes, when I’m in a certain mood, I’ll name him as one of my favorite living writers.

Anyway, he’s had a lot of health problems over the last few years (which he’s talked about canididly), and his online editor took over reviewing, and I just kind of fell away from reading his site, which was such a staple of my weekly online reading for so many years. Ebert’s illness has been a sad loss for movie fans everywhere, but particularly in the online world, where he was such a linchpin for so many years (he was effectively a blogger, both in his site updates and in the reviews themselves, way before blogging was cool).

So it was good to note, when I checked back in this week on a lark, that Ebert has been quietly starting to regularly review movies again. Check it out.

I hope he continues to make good progress in his recovery, and that we have him around for many more years to come.
