Smearing Ron Paul

Flagged by Sully, here’s an exchange on John Gibson’s Fox News program last night, with Michelle Malkin as the guest, that takes as a premise that what Ron Paul meant in the debate was that Bush knew about the 911 attacks beforehand.

Amazing. There is simply no distinction worth making to them between the neocon version of history and ideology, and everything else. It may as well all be the same thing as far as they’re concerned. Pat Buchanan isolationism, Ron Paul paleoconservatism, Reagan Republicanism, Mainstream liberal disengagement, Juan Cole intelligent critique, or Michael Moore liberal wing-nuttery. No difference. You’re either with us or against us.

  1. Hey, Cost does say that Paul will remain in the debates because he throws ‘hanging curveballs’ and now that Giuliani has dispatched one, the rest will be queueing up to have a go.

Thus, libertarians should only stay in the Republican party to provide opportunities to beat up on them. You are the Republican party’s fat kids.

  2. Yeah I saw that as well. Malkin is a moron. I wonder what she thought of the FOX news post-debate poll.

What’s so funny about this stuff is that you know these people were intelligent enough to get journalism degrees, and make it in a competitive field. So probably…this is all a perfectly contrived act: play dumb to appeal to your dumb base. I think that’s worse than the thought they are really that stupid – that they are that conniving.
