Sampson to testify under oath
While the talk yesterday was of an imminent showdown between Whitehouse and Congress over subpoeanas for administration officials, today brought the news that Kyle Sampson, Gonzales’ recently-resigned Chief of Staff, will give testimony under oath. I’m not entirely sure that this bodes well for the Democrats’ hopes for a serious blow to the administration; I guess that it depends on exactly why Sampson is so keen to give testimony. Might be worth watching, if it’s public.
Meanwhile, I’m thinking that the aim with Gonzales is to keep him for long enough until they can ditch him and claim that it’s not a Democrat victory. Given that nothing new and very bad has come out of the last document dump, maybe Sampson’s testimony is the key, unless the subpoenas row blows up.
