Gonzales “dismayed”
And he is determined to “assess accountability”.
Thanks, Alberto. Good lookin’ out.
Sully has been on the call for Gonzales to resign. Josh Marshall has been the bulldog with jaws locked on things from the start. Me? I just find myself continually amazed at the chutzpah. It’s like our government thinks we’re all idiots or something.
While watching the press conference though, I was struck with how…well, panicked, it seemed. Not in tone, but in content. This wasn’t just a guy looking to keep his job, but a guy actively fearing prosecution. I never saw documents, we never had a discussion, I regret that the under-oath testimonies to Congress were “incomplete”, it was my chief of staff’s fault, I’ve been through a lot in life to get where I am today, I take responsibility, but there’s a lot of people at DOJ, and surely I can’t be held responsible for all of them…
This is the press conference of a guy who knows he just got nailed for something he’s been fearing getting nailed for.
